New Delhi . YouTube Shorts, launched about 2 years ago, is touching new heights of popularity. YouTube started short form videos on its app in comparison to Tiktok. YouTube has told that 1.5 billion or 150 million users are watching YouTube shorts on its platform every month. Compared to the previous figure of Tiktok, the figure of YouTube shorts is one and a half times more.
Gadget 360 According to the website, the Tiktok app, owned by China’s ByteDance company, claimed to have 1 billion monthly users in September 2021. Since then the company has not released any update till now. It was believed that after crossing the figure of 1.5 billion monthly users in 2022, Tiktok will issue a report in this regard. Meanwhile, YouTube has overtaken its users even before the new Tiktok report came out.

2020 was started
YouTube Shorts was launched in September 2020. Alphabet-owned social media platform YouTube and Facebook’s parent company Meta had added the short form video sharing format to their services. Both these companies said at the end of last year that they had touched the figure of 1 billion monthly users. YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neil Mohan said that YouTube Shorts is really showing itself now. It is seeing more than 1.5 million login users every month.

$100 million fund
According to Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, YouTube shorts averaged 30 billion views per day in April, which was four times more than a year ago. The company had prepared a fund of $100 million last year to push it. The platform paid up to $10,000 per month to short video creators from this fund.
