New Delhi. Airline and hotel-booking website Cleartrip said an email sent to customers on Monday said a major data breach had occurred in its internal systems. The company has advised users to change the password of Cleartip account. In its email sent to the customers, the company has said that you are informed that a company has breached the data security and unauthorized access to Cleartrip’s internal system has been found. However, the company has assured that no sensitive information of the customers was compromised.

The Flipkart-owned company clarified that some personal details were leaked during this period, but no sensitive information has been compromised. The company further wrote that we are well aware that this will be a matter of concern for you. We would like to assure you that apart from a few details, no sensitive information has been compromised. You can reset your password as a precaution.

Cleartrip said that it is taking appropriate legal action as per law in this matter. In this regard, a Cleartrip spokesperson told The Economic Times that we have identified a security flaw in some of our internal systems. Our information security team is currently investigating the matter with a key external forensic partner and taking necessary action. Apart from this, appropriate legal action is also being taken and steps are being taken as per law.

Earlier the company had faced the hack
Let us tell you that Walmart-owned Flipkart had acquired a 100% stake in Cleartrip in 2021, which was considered to be the company’s distress sale of $ 40 million. This is not the first time the company has faced a data breach or hack. Earlier in 2017, its website was hacked and defaced for a few minutes by a group called Turtle Squad. Currently, Cleartrip operates in India in Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
