OnePlus 15 First Review Out: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 vs iPhone 17 Pro Max

The hype around OnePlus 15 is real! Even before its official launch in India and other global markets, the first performance review of the phone is already here. A detailed review by YouTuber Geekerwan compares the OnePlus 15 to Apple’s latest iPhone 17 Pro Max, offering insights into benchmarks, gaming performance, and the new design.

At Digital Namanji, we break down everything you need to know about the OnePlus 15 before it hits the shelves.

OnePlus 15 Benchmark Scores

The OnePlus 15 is powered by the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. According to the review:

  • Single-core score: 3,836 (slightly behind iPhone 17 Pro’s A19 Pro, 4,019)
  • Multi-core score: 12,352 (higher than both Apple A19 and A19 Pro)

The phone shows excellent multi-core performance, outperforming current Android flagships and even the iPhone 17 series in multi-core benchmarks.

GPU Performance

The YouTuber also tested the GPU using 3D Mark’s Steel Nomad Light benchmark:

  • OnePlus 15: 3,143
  • iPhone 17 A19: 2,598
  • iPhone 17 Pro A19 Pro: 3,004

While the OnePlus 15’s GPU performance beats Apple’s A19 series, it slightly lags behind the newly launched MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset.

Performance Notes

While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is promising, real-world performance will depend on software optimizations. Last year, some Snapdragon 8 Elite devices like iQOO 13 faced heating issues during benchmarks, though OnePlus 13 didn’t have the same problem due to better CPU throttling.

So, we’ll have to wait for the Indian launch to see how the OnePlus 15 handles extended gaming and heavy multitasking.

OnePlus 15: What to Expect

  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
  • Display: 165Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals
  • Camera Design: Ditching circular modules for a squarish setup, inspired by OnePlus 13s and some Oppo devices
  • Build & Design: Sleek new design with improved ergonomics

This new design marks a fresh direction for OnePlus, blending performance and style in its flagship lineup.

Final Words from Digital Namanji

The OnePlus 15 looks promising with its powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, ultra-smooth 165Hz display, and a fresh camera design. While multi-core and GPU benchmarks look impressive, single-core performance slightly trails Apple’s A19 Pro.

If you’re eagerly waiting for flagship Android performance to rival the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the OnePlus 15 might just be the device to watch out for when it finally launches in India.
