Instagram videos will now be posted like reels, testing of the new feature begins

New Delhi. Instagram is testing a feature that will convert video posts into reels. Instagram is testing this new feature with select users around the world. The Meta-owned platform confirmed to TechCrunch that the change will make it easier to post video content on Instagram.

A Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch in an emailed response that they are trying to simplify and improve the video experience on Instagram and are testing the feature in that order. He said that with the help of its feature, video posts can be posted on the platform like a reel.

When the account is public, everyone will be able to search
In this regard, social media consultant Matt Navarra said in a tweet that the people selected for testing have started seeing a message, which says that the video post should now be shared as a reel. The message states that if the user’s account is public and the video is converted to a reel, then anyone will be able to search for that reel and create a new reel using the audio.

Option to turn off remixing
If the account is set to private, then only followers can search the reels. It also states that once you post a public reel on the platform, anyone can use it to create remixes. However, users will have the option to turn off remixing from the settings. At the moment there is no information on whether the changes will be implemented or not. Instagram also hasn’t specified how it will affect existing videos on the platform.
