5G Internet Service in India: Spectrum sales approved by the cabinet, your internet speed will increase 10 times


New Delhi. In a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 5G spectrum auction has been approved. Now the auction of 72097.85 MHz spectrum will be done by the end of July. This spectrum will be auctioned for various low, medium and high frequency bands.

These spectrums will be allotted to companies for 20 years. This time the bidders for the spectrum were relaxed in some conditions so that the bidders would be able to raise money. Internet speed will increase with the introduction of 5G services in the country. 5G internet services will be about 10 times faster than 4G. The auction will be conducted for high 26 GHz spectrum with low frequency bands 600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and medium frequency bands 3300 MHz.

No advance payment to be made
Continuing the pace of reforms in the telecom sector, the cabinet has relaxed certain conditions for spectrum auction for ease of doing business. This time successful bidders will not be required to make advance payment. Apart from this, they can also pay for spectrum in 20 equal installments. Not only this, the bidders will also be given the option to surrender the spectrum after 10 years.

The nature of business will change
Spectrum is an integral and essential part of the entire 5G eco-system. 5G services have the potential to create new age businesses, generate additional revenue for enterprises. It is expected that telecom service providers will use mid and high band spectrum to roll out 5G technology-based services. This will be about 10 times faster than the current 4G services. Three major telecom service providers of the country – Vodafone Idea, Bharti Airtel Limited and Reliance Industries Limited’s Jio are expected to participate in the spectrum auction.

Experts say that 5G services can start by Diwali this year. After this online work will become easier. The speed of downloading or uploading movies or pictures will also increase.
